What is the Accelerator Program

The MBCS Accelerator Program is a career development initiative designed to help business beginners build a solid foundation of skills and knowledge. It currently offers two divisions: Quant and Investing, focusing respectively on quantitative analysis and corporate finance.

At midterm, a public showcase will be held, where participants present their progress.Final deliverables include: a data analysis or strategy report from the Quant Group, and a10-page equity research report from each team in the Investing Group. All outcomes will be published on the society’s platform and evaluated by professors from the Faculty of Business Administration. Completion certificates will be awarded to those who fulfill the requirements.

Beginner Level (Preliminary):
This stage is designed to help beginners enter specific business career fields through open workshops and seminars. These sessions are delivered in a clear and progressive format, laying a strong foundation for future learning. It also serves as a key entry point for newcomers to integrate into the program.

Advanced Level (requires application and interview to become an Accelerator Elite Member):
At this level, participants engage in practical projects that apply theoretical knowledge to real financial scenarios. In the Quant Group, students use programming tools like Python and mathematical concepts to build quantitative models and replicate trading strategies. In the Investing Group, participants work under mentors to conduct in-depth industry and company research, write equity reports, perform valuations, and carry out financial analysis—strengthening their professional capabilities through hands-on experience.

Our Current Study Group

Quant Group:
This division emphasizes the integration of mathematical knowledge—especially statistics—with key financial concepts. Participants develop data analysis and modeling skills to implement automated trading and arbitrage strategies using programming languages. They also learn to manage risk and adjust portfolios and trading strategies through computational methods.

There are four themed project groups to choose from:

1. Linear Regression and Asset Pricing; 2. Multi-Strategy Trading Replication; 3. Quantitative Analysis of Petro-Currencies; 4. Technical Indicator-Based Trading Strategy Practice

What You Will Learn:

• Data Analysis & Model Building:
Under mentor guidance, you will apply models such as linear regression to identify data relationships, use real-world data to build predictive models, and master asset pricing frameworks to forecast financial trends.

• Replication of Quantitative Trading Strategies:
You will explore strategies like momentum, mean reversion, and arbitrage—covering the full process from idea generation and data preprocessing to model development and backtesting. Emphasis is placed on understanding the logic behind each strategy.

• Risk Management & Performance Evaluation:
You will learn to use tools like VaR, CVaR, and stress testing to accurately measure and control portfolio risks. Additionally, you'll apply Sharpe ratio, information ratio, and other performance metrics to scientifically assess the effectiveness of strategies and portfolio performance.

Investing Group:
This division focuses on applying corporate finance concepts and relevant industry knowledge to conduct in-depth analysis of specific companies. 1. Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT); 2. Consumer & Retail; 3. Energy; 4. Financial Services; 5. Global Macroeconomy; 6. Healthcare

What You Will Learn:

• Company Business Model Analysis:
With mentor guidance, you will first select a target industry and then choose a representative company for in-depth research. You will analyze its business model, financial status, and competitive advantages, ultimately completing an industry research report—enhancing your ability to process information and evaluate companies.

• Company Valuation & Financial Analysis:
You will apply valuation methods such as DCF and comparable company analysis, interpret financial statements, and assess a company’s financial health, profitability, growth potential, and risk exposure. Through case-based valuation practice, you'll gain the tools to support informed investment decisions.
